The plan is to build a new high school, Platåskolan, in Falköping with room for approximately 1000 students. The school should be build centrally in Falköping near the old quarry.
The school is placed in the crossing of the roads Trädgårdsgatan and Holldendergatan. The thought is for the old quarry to form the framework for a unique and exciting outdoor environment for the students.
The school is thought to be a clear symbol of how children and young adults is set at the center and that everyone has the right to equivalent education. The construction is built with a focus on well-being and safety and the thought is that this should increase the creativity and friendship. The school’s motto is ´Platåskolan – where knowledge sits like the mountain’.
The school is drawn by Tengbom – one of the world’s oldest and most innovative architecture offices. They have huge experience with drawing schools with modern learning environments. Platåskolan will be a 4 floors high building of 3300 square metres in total.
The planned area includes about 48,000 square metres of which the new school property covers approximately 27,500 square metres. The school’s largest possible gross area (BTA) is approximately 29,050 square metres. This BTA is only possible if about 3,450 square metres is built down in the quarry where today there is filling masses as well as 6,400 square meters will be constructed in four floors.
The project is set to begin during Q3 2025 and has for the time being no finish date.
