Kvillebacken Gothenburg, new housing

The purpose of the project is to replace the existing buildings with radon problems with new housing. The utilization rate is suggested to be a lot higher than what it is today.

The buildings should be located in the area of Kvillebacken. Today, there are three apartment buildings which show radon levels above the permitted limit values here. Solving these problems is estimated to be too expensive and, therefore, they must be replaced with new condominiums.

Therefore, it is suggested to build two half closed neighbourhoods towards the streets Björlandavägen and Wieselgrensgatan. This must give the building a more urban character and a better living environment considering the traffic noise and air environment.

The construction’s location towards the streets gives it more urban qualities such as a more clearly defined street space where entrances and activities on the ground floor provide the potential for a more active urban life.

The project contains about 205 new housings distributed on 2 apartment buildings. The neighbourhood will be 5-6 floors towards the two streets Björlandavägen och Wieselgrensgatan and 4 floors towards the townhouse. Further, the possibility to rebuild part of the building for center purposes is allowed.

The project is expected to start in Q1 2025 and has an end date set for Q3 2027.
