Lerum’s Municipality is actively working with city development in order to meet the public interest for housing and create an increased basis for public transportation and service.
Lerum’s overview plan points to Aspedalen as a central area that can be developed and complemented by a more dense and higher constructed structure with different housing types and forms of residence.
Therefore, together with HSB, Skanska och Wallenstam, Lerum’s Municipality is planning to construct a new housing area by Aspen beach.
The construction must have a direct connection with the protected coastal forest and a new parking garage with offices for businesses must be built for the purpose of protecting the construction from noise from the road and railroad. The parking garage will be built with 7-9 floors.
The project entails a demolition of the wastewater treatment plant so that approximately 550 apartments can be built instead. The apartments will be a mix of both rental and condominiums.
The cnstruction will consist of an apartment building with 4-6 floors. Additionally, plans to build a new preschool in the area with between four and six departments and two floors, have also been made.
The constructions will be environmentally certified with either The Nordic Swan Ecolabel or similar. The plan is to construct it in cement and concrete with a minimised cliamte impact as well as recycle and reuse at least 70% of the construction waste.
The municipality is the main actor for the public space and is responsible for expansion and future operation and maintenance.
The project is estimated to begin in Q1 2026, but for the current time being there is not finish date stated.
